We are raising money to support possible legal actions arising from decisions made over the new Velindre Cancer Centre and related applications this Autumn. Although we need to keep precise details of this confidential at the moment for obvious reasons, we are certain we must begin fundraising to ensure we are ready to file an action whenever necessary.
Money raised already has contributed to establishing a strong basis of knowledge regarding the new development. This money shall continue to support that work and any expenses which may arise out of legal actions.
Your physical support protesting, writing objections to the council, and getting in touch with your MPs and MSs has been incredible. We are now asking for your further support and solidarity to help us ensure all decisions being made regarding the use of the meadow have fully achieved all levels of regulations and shall not negatively impact the health of the local community. Any donation, big or small, will help us come closer to achieving that goal.
WE ARE AWARE THAT AS A RESULT OF OUR EFFORTS IN OPPOSITION TO THE PLANNING PROCESS, WE MAY NOT NEED TO PURSUE LEGAL ACTION IN THE END, IN WHICH CASE ALL MONEY RAISED SHALL BE DONATED TO VELINDRE.
We are totally committed to ensuring cancer care in South Wales is excellent for all people, and truly support the incredible work Velindre have done over the years and shall continue to do into the future. A number of Save the Northern Meadows supporters have been patients at Velindre and many more have supported family and friends through their treatment there. Cancer affects us all and does not discriminate. For all these reasons we feel, if ultimately not needed for legal action, then Velindre is the obvious choice.
We are not and have never been in opposition to Velindre.
